Meat Dishes-Pork
Swedish Meatballs
Preparation time: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 55 minutes
Serves: This dish can serve up to 4 people.
Ingredients List:
Ground pork and ground sirloin-8 ounces
Small onion-1 (chopped coarsely in a blender)
Sour cream-1/2 cup
Large egg-1 (beaten lightly)
Dry-breadcrumbs-3 tbsp
Coarse salt-1 ½ tsp
Ground pepper
Ground all-spice-1/2 tsp
Ground nutmeg-1/4 tsp
Vegetable oil-1 tbsp
Dry-red wine-2 tbsp
All-purpose flour-2 tbsp
Low-sodium store-bought or homemade beef stock-2 cups
Flat-leaf parsley (chopped coarsely)-1/4 cup
How to cook:
1. The first thing to do is to pre-heat the oven, till 275 degrees Fahrenheit. Now combine the following ingredients: spices, pepper, salt, breadcrumbs, egg, sour cream, onion, pork, and beef in a bowl. Proceed to toss these ingredients properly with your hands, till they get combined well. Now freeze this mix on the baking sheet, for thirty minutes and re-roll them with your hands.
2. The second thing to do is to take a skillet and heat the oil in it, over medium-high flame. Proceed to cook the meatballs with shaking, till they become brown in colour and get cooked thoroughly. This may take about six minutes. Move on to place the meatballs in oven, on the rimmed-baking sheet.
3. Now pour the fat off and discard the browned bits from the skillet. Into this add the wine and cook over medium flame with stirring, till the wine gets reduced. Proceed to add the flour and stock now whisk all these ingredients properly. Continue to cook this mixture in medium-high flame. Move on to reduce the flame to simmer and cook, till the mixture becomes thick. This may take about eight to ten minutes.
4. Finally, pour this mixture through a colander, proceed to top the meatballs with the parsley and sauce.
Thereby, the dish is now ready to be served.
